This call seeks to increase human capital for science, technology and innovation through financing the incorporation of researchers with a doctorate degree and the research project development, in order to generate impact on the creation, strengthening or consolidation of lines of research in Peruvian entities. The researcher represents a key element for transformation and generation of knowledge and development opportunities.

Amount

Total funds: A maximum amount of PEN 50 million (around USD 15 million) will be provided for this call. The budget will subsidize at least 100 incorporated researchers or until the available budget is allocated.

Amount description

What does the grant provide?

Salary and installation expenses: Domestic and international researchers will receive:
1. A monthly salary stratified by each researcher category (includes income taxes: 8% for domiciled and 22% for non-domiciled in Peru):
  - Principal Researcher: PEN 21,100 (around USD 6,300) (up to 30 months, with a continuous or not continuous residence in Peru).
  - Research Associate: PEN 15,200 (around USD 4,500) (up to 30 months, with a continuous residence in Peru).
  - Postdoctoral Researcher: PEN 7,900 (around USD 2,300) (up to 24 months, with a continuous residence in Peru).
2. Installation expenses (single payment):
  - Principal Researcher: PEN 16,000 (around USD 4,800).
  - Research Associate: PEN 12,000 (around USD 3,600).
  - Postdoctoral Researcher: PEN 10,000 (around USD 3,000).
Project funding: Up to PEN 1,300,000 (around USD 390,000) according to the number of researchers to incorporate: up to PEN 350,000 (around USD 105,600) for one Principal Researcher, up to PEN 250,000 (around USD 75,400) for one Research Associate, and up to PEN 150,000 (around USD 45,200) for one Postdoctoral Researcher.

Academic institutions
- Peruvian universities that are licensed or in the process of being licensed by SUNEDU (National Superintendency of University Higher Education).
- Peruvian institutes or research centers (public or private).
Small and medium enterprises
- Peruvian companies with sales sale over 150 UIT (Peruvian tax unit) and at least two (02) years of continuous operation prior to the date of application.

Eligibility description

"This call is aimed at foreign and Peruvian researchers, domiciled or non-domiciled in Peru, with experience in international research institutions. Researchers must contact Peruvian entities (academy and companies) in order to participate in this call. In case foreign researchers do not have contact with Peruvian entities (called Applicant Entity), they are welcome to create a profile in the Registration Platform (https://bit.ly/2W8HZRx) and contact the registered entities. International Centers, domiciled or non-domiciled in Peru, are excluded from applying for this call. The Applicant Entity is an entity legally constituted in Peru that shall assume the responsibility of the application. The Applicant Entity may optionally apply with one or more Associated Entities that actively participate in the execution of the financed research project."
